The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter, has congratulated Comrade Isaiah Kemje Benjamin on his re-election as National President of the Association following the successful conclusion of the 2026 SWAN Triennial National Delegates Congress in Kaduna.
The chapter also felicitated with Ikemefuna Asika on his emergence as Vice President, South East Zone, and Ijeoma Nwante, who was elected National Financial Secretary.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Secretary, Tunde Liadi, Imo SWAN Chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, described the successful congress and elections as another important step in strengthening the Association.
Chukwuemeka said Benjamin’s re-election provides him with another opportunity to consolidate on the gains of his first term, particularly in the areas of members’ welfare, professional development, unity and strengthening of state chapters.
He urged the SWAN President to run an inclusive administration and continue to build stronger relationships with relevant sports bodies and stakeholders for the benefit of members and Nigerian sports journalism.
The Imo SWAN Chairman also congratulated Asika, describing his emergence as Vice President of the South East Zone as a responsibility to promote greater cooperation among chapters in the zone.
He charged Asika to work closely with the five state chapters, listen to their concerns and ensure that the South East remains united and properly represented at the national level.
Chukwuemeka equally congratulated Nwante on her election as Financial Secretary, urging her to bring transparency, accountability and diligence to the management and documentation of the Association’s finances.
Chukwuemeka wished the newly elected national and zonal officers a successful tenure and assured them of the support and cooperation of the Imo State Chapter.
