Dr. Theophilus N Nwafor, Presiding Bishop of Holy Spirit Teaching Ministries Inc., in this exclusive interview with ARROW, highlights the importance of Christians getting involved in politics, particularly in Nigeria with Jesus Government.
Bishop Nwafor also advocates for involvement of Christians in politics to bring about God’s will.
He expects a change in Nigeria by 2027, referencing biblical references.

I am Dr. Theophilus N Nwafor, a native of Umuezukwe Awo Omamma in the Oru East L.G.A. of Imo State.
Can we know your Academic Background?
In 1988- 1991 I graduated in computer science, was working with it till I traveled overseas for gospel mission in 1999.
I came back, started my ministry in 2002 and was consecrated a Bishop in the year 2020. I also obtained a degree certificate in Theology.
How do you mean by new nigeria is now to be possible?
Yes, we have already ended old Nigeria, What you see today is the process of passing away so that the new can emerge. In the book of Rev 21 vs 1 said, I saw a new heaven and a new earth, i believe that has to do with what I saw. Apostle John in verse 5 said, he that sat upon the throne, said behold I make all things new and verse 6 said, It is done. When God said He had created a new earth and a new heaven and a living being saw it on earth, is now left for us to see it and embrace it and make it happen.
There is a process for that and I said that without a prophet, no nation is made. The making of any nation starts from choosing a leader. When God have seen who to say go and anoint this president, he becomes the anointed president according to the will of God.
How do you marry it with church of Christ?
In psalm 110 vs 2, the LORD said, sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies the foot stool. Vs 2 now said, the LORD shall send forth the rod of thy strength through Zion, that is the church, rule thou in the midst of thy enemies. Also see 1 Corinthians 6 vs 2.
So it is the church that will now make a reality of new nigeria not the politicians, I mean the secular system of politicking. When one is anointed, he now embrace the anointing of the holy spirit, the power of God to do according to the will of God, because the bible said, he that cometh from God speaks the word of God and the power to making the word happen is given to him without measure. John 3 vs 34, when i said new nigeria is possible, it means the church have to come in. you can’t leave the secular system for the politician to pollute and corrupt the people.
Their end has come because if we see a country like America invading Nigeria today, that means our gospel Invasion project in Nigeria is a reality and that is the enthronement of Jesus government which is the new Nigerian, because it said, if one be in Christ, he is a creature. 2 Corinthians 5 vs 17. If Nigeria as a nation and their Leaders embraces Christ it becomes a new nation.
How do you hope to archive this when Christians seems to be afraid of joining polities?
Many are called but few are chosen, what do I mean, in the book of 1st chronicles 12 vs 32, it said. The tribe of Issachar that understands the things which Israel the church ought to do, the verse concluded saying they were in the command of their brethren, so the few that have insight, understanding what God has destined the church to do, will carry on and be in the command, which by the grace of God is what we are advocating about, that the gospel which is the power of salvation will now take place in Nigeria to salvage the country and bring the newness of Christ in this Nation.
How do you Look at the upcoming Election in Nigeria come 2027?
By the grace of God, God is too faithful to fail. If the secular system does not work well, God i know will make it possible. Because God said in Romans 8 vs 28, “and we know all things worketh together for good to those that love God and to those who are called according to His purpose.
So what we are preaching is a new government, Jesus government in this nation. It is a reality, it is coming to pass, God will fail all the secular system and make sure that the enthronement of Jesus government is reality in this nation called Nigeria.
A Christian anointed fellow most surely come on board on the leadership of nigeria government.
This new Nigeria you are clamouring for, which part of the country are you expecting it from?
During the time of Obasanjo from the South West, who believed that the south south will come in the leadership of this country? We all believed that Yoruba and Hausa have been leading, and will continue to lead, but when Obasanjo came up, God made him to understand that he is not of South West, South South or even from the North. God now throw an idea into him which inspired him to bring out Jonathan from South South. When they saw that Jonathan government was not playing according to their own will, the Northerners, talking about their own interest, they destroyed his government.
Do you know what made Jonathan to come up, that same thing is trying to repeat itself again. is it not the death of Yara’ dua. Now I see something like that occurring this time around, because God said He will judge many head of countries and state. So, i see death taking a toll of all the wicked leaders. Because bible said, evil shall slain the wicked. I saw them going down to the graves, so when this time comes , Christians will submerge because God said he will make enemies of Christ be under his foot stool, So where is the place of the foot stool, it is the devil and his cohorts being defeated.
How do you look at the issue of South East producing the next president of Nigeria?
This is on individual interest, it is not of the divine as God want it. You see, many South Easterners are Muslim, so if such a person comes up, he is coming on the continuation of Islamic agenda, which is what we are suffering now, Muslim Muslim ticket.
Do you think Trump as an individual has the will power that can help Nigeria overcome its political and religious crisis ?
Trump is not coming on his own, he is on divine mission, yes, he is coming on a divine agenda. God want to sanitize the wickedness melt out on Christians in this nation, God want to use him to bring out the promulgation of the gospel to the lime light in this land, so that Christians will no longer suffer what they are suffering today.
So ,this is the time to enthrone Jesus government. The infidel that the Muslims are calling Christians today will soon turn opposite, they will see it because the bible said that the entrance to the word of God giveth light. The light of the word of God will out shine the kingdom of be darkness, and will be flooded with the light of the gospel which will surpass every conner of darkness in this nation.
The scripture will be fulfilled when the light shineth and the darkness cannot comprehend it.
As a man of God, you have been preaching against what is happening in Nigeria today, what is your interest?
My interest is to see the will of God done, to fulfill my ministry. My ministry is on this particular verses of Mathew 28 vs 19-20 and it said, go ye and teach all nations, baptized them in the name of the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. So, I am running my ministry, I know what I am trying to fulfill, that is my interest.
Do you believe 2027 will fulfill your expectations?
Yes for real, 2027 is the year map-out for the release of Christians who have been under captive. Deuteronomy 15 vs 1-2. On the seventh year, there shall be a released and the release shall be of the Lord. The twenty seventh years is the second decade of this millennium. So, there must be a release, 2 kings 8 vs 3-6. So, 2027 is for restoration of peace and the will of God in Nigeria.
How would you describe the system of politics in Imo State?
That is the worst place, as you can see, Imo State is Gods own as they do call it, but people there are suffering because of wicked leaders.The acronym meaning of Imo is IGBO MAN ORIGIN State. It is not because of Imo River no, no, no, this is the insight God gave to me. Imo is the heart land of Igbo man. Igbo man origin is Imo State.
This is why wickedness is so much heavy in Imo State. If you know who Igbo man is, Igbo man is a tribe of Israelite who strayed and I believe God said that he will gather them. They are the outcast of Israel. Igbo man is from the tribe of Israel called Gad who strayed looking for greener pasture, that is how they find themselves in this part of Africa, and it is because of the existence of this Igbo man that Nigeria have not been in total destruction.
All i know is this, Igbo man is the very man God want to show case in this end time. In the same book of psalm 147 vs 2 God said I will build a New Jerusalem and gather My outcast. That language, i understand ,God is speaking about Igbo man, the tribe of Israel who strayed .
We are the Igbo man that has been strayed from our own origin nation. We are the Israelite who are strayed and God promised in this quotation i gave to you, psalm 147 vs 2 that He is going to gather and build His New Jerusalem.
What is new Jerusalem, Jesus said that time is coming when people will no longer worship in Jerusalem or upon any mountain, but seek them who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. The spirit there means a place of Holy Ghost taken possession, marking a new beginning, which is a new Jerusalem. So the new Jerusalem is taking place in the Igbo man land in Imo State, the core heartland of Igbo Man. it is in this very Imo State in the whole of South East that we have complete naming of cities which Jesus Christ illustrated in luke 19 vs 17. We have Mbairi Mbaitoli, Ebenasato, Nnenasa, Ebenisii, Mbaise, Mbano, Ebenato, Akabo, and Otulu. So, the glory of God that will emerge from this Imo State will be WONDERFUL. I tell you, Imo State system of governance and the manipulations taken place in this state is too high, too heavy. That means that God’s hand is coming greatly in Imo state, and let me tell you, Imo man will be the first Igbo president of this nation.
Anybody can come in, in 2027, whether Hausa or Yoruba, it is a very move of God that will make Igbo man to be in absolute power of this nation. When that happens, you will see a great change, there will be a turn around.
What is your advice to your fellow Christians?
Let them change their mindset and their way of reasoning. I am advocating for their involvement for this change of time in the new government that is coming, because we are enthroning Jesus government where the will of God will be done.
We need to anoint all this new leaders through the purring of Holy oil, it is a medium, a vessel for the spirit of God to manifest upon someone. like in the days of David, when Prophet Samuel anointed David, the bible recorded that the spirit of God moved mightily upon him. So anointing with holy oil is a medium to invoke the presence of the Holy Spirit upon someone.
Now, for the will of God to be done on earth, here in Nigeria, as it is done in heaven, Matthew 6 vs 10.
It has to be by the leading of the Holy Spirit and releasing of anointing unto every leader in God’s kingdom.
It must be through the anointing oil. Therefore, for anyone to participate in this Jesus Government, MUST be anointed.
So, we look forward to anoint genuine leaders in Jesus Government, see Zechariah 4 vs 6; Romans 8 vs24; 19-22! Revelation 11vs15; 12 vs 10; 21 vs 5-8.
