The Imo State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is draped in mourning following the sudden and tragic death of the former media officer of Enyimba FC and top official of Heartland FC Mr. Tonnex Chukwu, who passed away recently in a road crash.
Until his untimely demise, Chukwu was a towering figure in sports journalism and football administration. His career was marked by dedicated service and notable competence.
He served as a former officer at the prestigious Enyimba International Football Club of Aba . Later, he distinguished himself as the Protocol and Licensing Officer at Heartland FC of Owerri, where his diligence and attention to detail earned him widespread respect.
In an emotional tribute, the Imo State chapter of SWAN expressed profound grief over the loss.
In a release signed by the Secretary of the association, the Chairman, Mr. Cosmos Chukwuemeka, painted a picture of a man deeply committed to the growth of sports.
Chairman Chukwuemeka described the late official as a committed journalist and sports administrator, whose passion was evident in every role he undertook.
“His sudden departure has left a void that will be difficult to fill,”
“His work ethic, from his days at Enyimba to his crucial role at Heartland, was exemplary.”
The Imo SWAN chapter extended its deepest condolences to his immediate family, the management and staff of Heartland FC, the Enyimba FC , and the entire sports fraternity in Nigeria.
They prayed for the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and for the peaceful repose of his soul.
