Erikan Claims Imo SWAN Heartland February Award.

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter, is pleased to announce Francis Erikan as the winner of the Imo SWAN Heartland FC Player of the Month Award for February 2026 following a poll conducted among members of the association.

Erikan, who recently rejoined Heartland FC during the mid-season transfer window from Akwa United, emerged as the unanimous choice of the voters after delivering impressive performances shortly after his return to the Naze Millionaires. His impact has been immediate and significant, underlining the quality and experience he brings to the team.

The Akwa Ibom born midfielder secured all the votes cast in the poll, finishing ahead of fellow nominee Jonathan Osondu, another impressive mid-season addition from Crown FC. Erikan’s dominant showing in the voting reflects the strong impression he made during the month under review.

In February, Erikan played a decisive role in Heartland’s only victory of the month which was a 2–1 win over Abia Comets at the Dan Anyiam Stadium. He both scored and provided an assist in the said game, demonstrating his attacking quality and influence in midfield. He was also one of the shining lights of the team in the narrow loss to Beyond Limits in Ikenne on his second debut for the team.

Osondu also enjoyed a commendable month, featuring in the two matches played by Heartland during February and getting on the scoresheet in the same victory against Abia Comets, further highlighting the positive impact of the club’s mid-season reinforcements.

The Imo SWAN Heartland FC Player of the Month Award is an initiative of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter, under the leadership of Cosmos Chukwuemeka. The award was established to recognize and celebrate outstanding performances by Heartland FC players, while encouraging excellence and professionalism within the team.

Since its introduction last season, the initiative has consistently honoured exceptional performers and remains part of SWAN’s broader commitment to promoting football development and rewarding excellence in Imo State.

Erikan will be presented with the award on Saturday March 14th shortly before the kick off of the Heartland versus Sunshine Stars tie billed for the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
