Today, as we mark this year’s National Youth Day under the theme “Local Youth Action for SDG & Beyond”, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the resilient, creative, and determined youths of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Nigeria at large.
The Social Democratic Party stands firmly committed to massive youth inclusiveness in politics, innovation, science and technology, agriculture, and every sector that drives national development. We are building a movement that places youths at the heart of democracy not as spectators, but as leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
The success and growth of Nigeria is undeniably in the hands of its youths. This is our time to join the train of good governance and social justice, and to put an end to state capture and recycled leadership that has left our nation struggling.
As we look towards the 2027 general elections, I appeal to every Nigerian youth: do not allow yourselves to be used and discarded by those who see you only as tools for their selfish ambitions. They will exploit your energy during campaigns, and when they win, they will label you as lazy youths, yahoo boys, bandits, thugs, or worse. We must reject this cycle of exploitation!
Instead, let us apply the horsepower of youth in everything we do with fertility of ideas, uprightness of character, and readiness for total political and economic takeover that puts Nigeria on the path of progress. Let us embrace the spirit of action because our country’s survival depends on what we do today.
To the Nigerian youth, I say this: Stand up. Be counted. Be the generation that refuses to be silenced.
Our future will not be handed to us we must seize it through unity, innovation, and integrity.
I welcome us all to another year of celebrating the potential and power of young people.
A New Nigeria is possible and we will make it happen.
