The Imo State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) wishes to publicly address and clarify recent claims regarding the establishment of a purported caretaker committee in Imo, reportedly set up by Dr. Agunloye, the former National Secretary of the party.
We categorically reject and describe these claims as baseless.
We urge the public and all stakeholders to disregard any form of communication or statement emanating from Dr. Agunloye pertaining to the SDP.
It is essential to recognize that Dr. Agunloye is no longer the National Secretary of the SDP, and lacks the authority to unilaterally sign or issue corporate documents on behalf of the party.
Furthermore, we express serious concerns about Dr. Agunloye’s actions, which we perceive as misguided efforts to destabilize the SDP at both the state and national levels.
Reports indicate that he has sought to recruit members from other political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other factions, attempting to misrepresent them as members of the SDP in Imo.

We firmly assert that the individuals named as members of this so-called caretaker committee members are not affiliated with our party in any capacity in Imo State.
It is our belief that Dr. Agunloye’s actions are driven by interests that do not align with the ideals of the SDP, and we caution him against continuing down this path.
The SDP is committed to its principles and will not stand idly by, while efforts are made to undermine our party in Imo State or across the nation.
In conclusion, we call on Dr. Agunloye and all involved with this purported caretaker committee to desist from these disruptive activities. The Imo SDP remains united and resilient, and we will take all necessary steps to protect the integrity and interests of our party and its members.
Signed,
Rev. Dr. Andy Nnamdi Nwokoro ,
Chairman,
Imo State SDP.
